Founded in 1911 by W. H. D Rouse, the Association is run by and for teachers of Latin. The Association originally set out to “reform” the teaching of Latin -
CSCP is a research and development project established in 1966 with funding from the Nuffield Foundation and the Schools Council. The aim of the Cambridge School Classics Project (CSCP) is to help make the classical world accessible to as many students as possible - whatever their age or background.
Classical subjects are a vital foundation for a modern education. Classics for All provides funding to teach classics in state primary and secondary schools.
Funded by the national charity Classics for All, Manchester Classics for All is a new project that provides access to Latin, Ancient Greek and Classics in state schools across North West England. The project is run in partnership with the Manchester Classical Association and the University of Manchester.
The Classics Library is the site for all Classics teachers and teachers-to-be. Founded in 2008 by Steve Jenkin, it hosts thousands of resources, all of which have been generously added to the ‘library’ by its own members. It is a hub for Classics teachers and academics, promoting events around the UK and often overseas, and providing a large network where everyone is welcome to ask for advice and support, and others are happy to help.
Starting to Teach Latin
For those who are either new or interested in teaching Latin. Steven Hunt, the author of the book, is course leader of the PGCE in classics at Cambridge University, UK, having previously taught for twenty years in comprehensive schools.
Minimus is a unique Latin course for younger children. It's based on a real family who lived at Vindolanda in 100AD: Flavius, the fort commander, his wife Lepidina, their three children, assorted household slaves, their cat Vibrissa - and Minimus the mouse!
The Iris Project is an educational charity introducing the languages and culture of the ancient world to UK state schools in order to enrich the curriculum. It was founded in the belief that the opportunity to learn about Classical languages, literature, histories and art should be made available to all, regardless of background, and that learning about these fascinating subjects can be a vital tool in promoting learning across the school curriculum in UK state schools.
